KSU Begins Softball Season with Homestand

The Kennesaw State Owls softball team will play seven games and a scrimmage over two weekends this fall, the program announced on Tuesday. They kick-off their fall schedule on Friday, Sept. 30, when they host Georgia State at 3 p.m., followed by a home scrimmage against Young Harris at 7:30 p.m.Saturday, Oct. 1, will be a full day at Bailey Park, as Owls softball alumni will return to campus for the annual Alumni Day, which will begin at 10 a.m. with a game between two teams made up of alumni. That will be followed by a doubleheader at 2 p.m. against Middle Georgia. They play their final home games of the fall the following Saturday, Oct. 8, when they take on Darton College at Noon. The Black and Gold wrap-up fall play the following day on Sunday, Oct. 9, with two games at Georgia Tech, beginning at 1 p.m.

The Owls return all four 2011 All- Atlantic Sun Conference selections to this year’s squad in senior Jessica Cross and juniors Sharon Swanson, Ashlee Burkett and Sara Sikes. Swanson led the A-Sun last season with 14 home runs, and her 49 RBI ranked second in the league, on the way to earning First Team honors. She was also named to the NFCA’s All-South Region Second Team. Cross, Burkett and Sikes all received All A-Sun Second Team recognition.
