Pickens County Keeps Citizens Informed with Code Red Service

News

The transition from the start of summer towards the dog days of late June and July is quickly approaching in Pickens County, which means that the severe weather that usually plagues the area may soon be approaching as well.

Luckily for those who live in Pickens, the county government helps keep people informed with the use of the Code Red Emergency Alert System. The alert system does its part to let people know when bad weather is on the horizon by calling the number provided by the particular person before the weather reaches their area, giving them enough time to perform the necessary actions that the upcoming weather may call for.Along with alerts for tornados, severe thunderstorms, and flash floods, Code Red also sends out alerts concerning “emergency situations or critical community alerts” that may also be affecting a person’s area, which may include such scenarios as a missing child or a possible bomb threat.
