During the final dinner ceremony ending a Georgia Carry.Org (GCO) conference held at the Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, State Representative, Rick Jasperse of Jasper was given the “Legislator of the Year” award.
Jasperse was the legislative sponsor and ‘go to’ guy on HB 60 (comprehensive gun legislation) last legislative session. The lawmaker(and former county agricultural extension agent) attended the ceremony with his wife, Marsha Jasperse, and was introduced by Pickens County resident and GCO “life time member” Jeff Anderson.

Several attendees took the podium to thank Jasperse for ‘ taking the hits’ from national media including Chairman of the House Public Safety Committee, Alan Powell, and Georgia Carry Executive Director Jerry Henry.

Most state capitol legislative experts would deem GCO more powerful than the National Rifle Association (NRA) ‘on the marble’ although the organization (which has over 8,500 members state-wide) has fewer resources than its national- behemoth- partner.
