Mr. Donnie Bruce, age 93, of the Hill City Community passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Bruce was born September 5, 1921 to C. V. and Lela Bruce in Jasper. He married Freebon Estelle Angeline Silvers and lived in Pickens County. Donnie served his country by proudly serving in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Bruce is survived by his wife, Freebon Bruce of Hill City; daughter, Gloria Coffey of Ellijay; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Kathy Bruce of Jasper; grandchildren, Mathew and Denisha Bruce of Jasper, Christopher and Ada Coffey of Ashville, North Carolina, Lacey and Chad Jones of Jasper, Marissa and Jones Krogh of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Christopher Coffey officiating. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Bobby Cantrell officiating at the graveside. Visitation will be at Roper Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and until the funeral hour on Friday. Serving as pallbearers are Matt Bruce, Chad Jones, Jones Krogh, Chad Wilkie, Jay Carver, Carson Jones, Gary Founatin, Rodney Gibson, Wallace Gibson, and Chris Coffey. Honorary pallbearers are Frank B. Mullinax, Loy Mullinax, Gene Jones, and Dillard Silvers.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mr. Bruce’s name.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper.
