Nettes’ Open Pickens Holiday Classic Against Creekview

Yesterday, the PHS Dragonettes varsity basketball team hosted the Lady Grizzlies of Creekview in the first day of the Pickens Holiday Classic. This round robin tournament features schools from different classifications. Creekview is out of 5A.

 

In the opening quarter, both teams traded buckets. The Lady Grizzlies held the lead going to the 2nd, 10-8. In the 2nd, both teams continued to find offense. Creekview outscored the Nettes’ 14-9 in the frame to take a halftime lead of 24-17.

 

Both Pickens and the Lady Grizzlies kept up their offensive ways in the 3rd with both teams scoring in double digits. Creekview stretched it’s lead out to 40-29 after a 16-12 quarter run. The Lady Grizzlies closed things out in the 4th by using a 21-5 quarter run. The final ended up being, 61-34.

 

Leading the way for the Nettes’ were:

Ashley Nelson: 9 points, & 4 rebounds

Torie Williams: 9 points, 1 rebound, & 1 steal

Mackenzie Hampton: 8 points, 2 assists, & 1 rebound

Kaitlin Redman: 4 points, & 1 rebound

Madison McClure finished with 1 point, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, & 1 steal, McKenna Kemp had 2 points, & 2 rebounds, & Shelby Cook had 1 point, 3 rebounds, & a steal.

 

The Nettes’ will be back in action today in Day 2 of the PHS Holiday Classic as they take on the River Ridge Lady Knights. Tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. in the new gym.
