Clear Creek Bobcats Tennis Off to 2-0 Start

After Mother Nature forced numerous reschedules, the Clear Creek Middle School tennis team has finally got two matches under its belt for the season.

Following a 4-0 Lady Cats and a 3-0 Bobcats victory at Fannin March 11, CCMS hosted Pickens yesterday and evenly split the affair. The Lady Cats lost 3-2, while the Bobcats won by the same margin.

In boys singles action against Pickens, Dragon Tucker Love defeated Luke Wimpey 8-2. Bobcat Braden Jenkins bested Eli Bradford 8-5, while Dragon Tristan Warren beat Brady Sanford 8-4.

Boys doubles matches saw Bobcats Clay Ott and Kaden Reece defeat Josh Murphy and Collin Kellogg 8-2, while the duo of Clear Creek players Chase Baggs and Isaiah Sharp beat Riley Davis and Brock Horrell 8-3.

Exhibition boys doubles matches featured Bobcats Eddie Jackson and Cameron Morgan down Caleb Tipton and Owen Galligan 8-0, while the pairing of Bobcats Will Teague and Ethan Cole defeated Will Haney and Eli Galligan 6-4.

Lady Cat Hope Colwell fell 8-4 to Jenn Prather in a singles match. Emma Callihan won an 8-0 match for CCMS over Kelsie Jons, while Dragonette Zoe Kirk beat Alexis Sirmans 8-1.

Josie Reece and Sarah Sheahan picked up an 8-0 doubles victory for the Lady Cats over Colby Prather and Kenzie Mays, while Emily Ponello and Sarah Parks returned the favor with an 8-0 Pickens win over Hannah Walker and Morgan White.

In exhibition girls doubles matches, Lark Reece and Kimberly Holt downed Dragonettes Maddie Mays and Brianna Simpson 8-0. Lady Cats Kylie Callihan and Ellie Teague bested Kate Wigington and Natalie Gaddis 8-5, while Jessica Futch and White teamed up for an 8-0 victory.

The match put the Pickens Dragons at a 2-1 mark for the year, while the Dragonettes are a perfect 3-0 thus far.

The Clear Creek season opener at Fannin featured Wimpey winning 8-2 and Jenkins triumphing 8-1 in boys singles action, while Ott and Reece teamed up for an 8-1 victory in a doubles match.

Girls singles matches against the Lady Rebels gave Colwell an 8-2 victory, while Emma Callihan garnered an 8-1 win.

The girls doubles matches featured Josie Reece and Bethany Burnette winning 8-6 and Sheahan and White picking up an 8-3 win. In exhibition doubles matches, Walker and Holt won 8-3, Lark Reece and Futch lost 1-8 and Teague and Kylie Callihan triumphed 8-3.

To catch up the regular season, Clear Creek travels to Fannin for another match today, before heading to Pickens tomorrow.
