Dragons Start Holiday Tournament In Tough Fashion

Earlier this afternoon, the PHS Dragons varsity basketball team traveled up 515 to take part in the Fannin Mountain Top Holiday Classic. The 1st day of the tournament saw Pickens go up against 3A Coahulla Creek Colts. The winner, would face the Fellowship Christian Paladins tomorrow at 5:30, while the other, would face the Adairsville Tigers at 11:30 a.m.

 

In the 1st, The Colts shot out to a quick lead. Pickens, however, found some success on both sides of the ball and were able to cut into the Coahulla Creek lead going to the 2nd, 13-10. In the 2nd, The Colts got things going on their end. Coahulla Creek outscored the Dragons 21-10, to take a 34-20 lead going into the break.

 

In the 3rd, the Dragons looked to try to fight back into the game. Pickens outscored the Colts 10-7 in the frame to cute the lead down to 41-30 going to the 4th and final quarter. In the 4th, Coahulla Creek outscored the Dragons 13-9, to seal a 54-39 win.

 

Leading the way for the Dragons were:

Joseph Gossett: 9 points, 3 assists, & 5 rebounds

Chase Simmons: 8 points, 1 assist, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, & 1 block

Keinyuan Hooks: 8 points, 1 assist, 2 rebounds, & 1 steal

Hunter Hermann: 6 points, 7 rebounds, & 3 steals

Zach Goss: 3 points, 4 rebounds, & 1 block

Hunter Jordan: 3 points, 2 rebounds, & 2 blocks

Jacob Brumby: 2 points, 4 rebounds, & 1 block

Blake Gorth: 5 assists, 7 rebounds, & 3 blocks

 

The Dragons will again travel to Blue Ridge tomorrow as they take on the Adairsville Tigers. Tip off will be at 11:30 a.m.
