Thurmond Artrell Carver, 82, of Talking Rock, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Pickens County on April 20, 1935, son of the late Lance Carver and Lois Patterson Carver. In addition t his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Betty Carver.

Thurmond was a life long resident of the Ludville Community. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 28 years of work. He was a member of Ball Creek Baptist Church and loved to garden.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Cornett Carver; brothers and sister-in-law, Howard and Judy Carver of Talking Rock and James Carver of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Emory Watson of Blue Ridge; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eva Denny of Jasper, Randall and Diane Cornett of Hinton, J.C. and Eddie Cornett of Jasper, Ruthell Cornett of Jasper, and Mary Cornett of Jasper; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home. Reverend Eddie Brannon and Reverend Kenneth Kirk will officiate. Burial will follow at Ball Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Music will be arranged by the Angel Spirit Quartet. Pallbearers serving are David Carver, Cody Carver, Brian Henderson, Caleb Henderson, Charles Chastain, and Charlie Long.

The Carver family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home on Monday, February 26, 2018 and Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
