Dragons Hang Tough With Dawson To Tip Off 2019

After the girls varsity game, it was time for the nightcap as the Dragons hosted the Dawson Tigers to open their portion of the 2019 schedule. Pickens, looked to split the series with the Tigers after falling to Dawson in Dawsonville.

 

Much like the girls game, the visitors got off to the quick start, but the home team was able to rally back. In a back & forth opening quarter, the Tigers held a 21-18 lead. In the 2nd, Pickens went on a run sparked by the returning Hunter Hermann. The Senior changed the tempo of the ball game & helped the Dragons go on a 16-9 quarter run to take a 34-30 lead into the break.

 

The 3rd quarter, saw a lot of scoring from both teams. Both teams combined to score 47 points in the frame, with Dawson outscoring Pickens 28-19, to retake the lead going to the 4th, 58-53. The Tigers, would be able to hold off any Dragon run as they outscored Pickens in the 4th, 26-16, to take a 84-69 win.

Seth Bishop: 26 points, 3 assists, 10 rebounds

Zach Goss: 15 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds

Hunter Hermann: 12 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds, 1 steal

Owen Moss: 6 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal

Alex Snelgrove: 4 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal

Brady Moore: 4 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds

Tucker Lowe: 2 points, 2 assists

 

Pickens, will take to the road tomorrow as they head to Forsyth Central to take on the Bulldogs in non-region action. Tip off is set for 4 pm.
