Day two of the ETC Tipoff Tournament kicked off on Tuesday with games between the Pickens Dragons and the Copper Basin Cougars.
The first game of the afternoon saw the Dragonnettes take on the Lady Cougars. The Nettes started the game on a roll, outscoring the Lady Cougars 10-2 thanks in part to two three-pointers from sophomore Sarah Smith.
Things looked better for Copper Basin in the second quarter, as they started the quarter with five consecutive points, but Pickens got going once again and was able to shut down the Lady Cougars for the rest of the half. Pickens led 32-17 at half and would go on to win the game 65-35.
Sarah Smith led the Dragonnettes in scoring and rebounds with fifteen and eleven, respectively.
Following the girl's game was the boy's game, pitting a hungry Pickens team against a vulnerable Copper Basin squad. Senior Spencer Jones brought his A-game for this one, putting up twenty-three points with nine rebounds and six assists as the Dragons beat down the Cougars 69-40.
Both Pickens's teams will take on Fannin today in the final day of the ETC Tipoff Tournament.
