Pauline June Conover, age 83, passed away on January 23, 2013 at the home of her son, Addison Clifton Conover, Jr. in Jasper, Georgia where she had been living.
She was born March 15, 1929, at the home of her parents, Kenneth and Bertha (Beaty) Gould in Sadorus, Ill. Pauline married Addison C. “Add” Conover on Sept. 15, 1947. She earned her GED at the age of 37. She raised chickens, rabbits and children. When all seven children were at home growing up, she canned more than 500 gallons of vegetables and soup a year. She enjoyed many hobbies, including bowling, gardening, crocheting and sewing, dancing, birds and flowers. Her favorite flowers were orchids. She was an avid reader. She crocheted and quilted lap robes that she donated to local nursing homes. She retired from Eureka Williams Company in Bloomington, Illinois after 20 years of service. Mrs. Conover was a member of the DeLand United Methodist Church in DeLand, Ill.
Survivors include her children, Luther K. “Luke” Conover and his wife, Robin of Champaign, Ill., Linda L. Buchanan (whose husband, Kenneth, is deceased) of DeLand, Ill., Addison Clifton Conover, Jr. and his wife, Ginny of Jasper, Ga., Carol C. “Chris” Goodwin of Springfield, Tenn., Patricia J. “Pat” Hansen and her husband, Bob of Hagerstown, Ind., and Allen B. Conover and his fiancée, Myra Ritz of Greentop, Mo.,; sister, Karen (Gould) Lee and her husband, Don of Champaign, Ill., 24 Grandchildren, 37 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia “Belle” (Gould) Pittman; an infant son, Charles Clifton Conover; a daughter, Ima Jean (Conover) Solverud; a grandson, Jeremy Conover; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Goodwin.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Chapel of Mittendorf-Calvert Funeral Home, 611 E. Pennsylvania
Ave., Champaign, Illinois with the interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Advantage, 300 Chastain Center Blvd., Suite 345, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144 or to the charity of one’s choice.
The family will receive friends at the Mittenford-Calvert Funeral Home in Champaign, Illinois on Monday, January 28, 2013, 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour.
