Mrs. Betty Jean Sorensen, age 81, of Jasper, Georgia died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Born January 30, 1932 in Wheeler, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Arley Ellis Kirkham and Leah Jessie Cooley Kirkham. Mrs. Sorensen had worked as a manager of an IGA Grocery Store and was a member of the Mountain View Alliance Community Church.
Survivors include, HER HUSBAND, Robert L. Sorensen of Jasper, Ga.; DAUGTHER & SON-IN-LAW, DeEtta and Dave Daily of Jasper, Ga.; SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Brad and Dixie Sorensen of Hiawassee, Ga.; GRANDCHILDREN, Heather Hogan of Jasper, Ga.; Brooke and Jake Hopkins of Woodstock, Ga.; Joseph Sorensen and Leah Sorensen both of Hiawassee, Ga.; GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, Carter Hogan, Sawyer Hogan, Audrey Hopkins, Alex Hopkins and Sage Sorensen; SISTER, Dorthea Gibbs of Hemphill, Tx.
At her request, Mrs. Sorensen was cremated and a Memorial Services is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2013 from the Mountain View Alliance Community Church, Pastor Ed Pattorff will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the Mountain View Alliance Community Church on Sunday, 1:30 p.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice, 70 Caring Way, Jasper, Georgia 30143 or to the Mountain View Alliance Community Church, 470 Bent Tree Dr., Jasper, Georgia 30143.
