4-H’s SAFE Squad Outshoots Others at “The Challenge at High Noon”

The Pickens County 4-H’s SAFE (Shooting Awareness Fun & Education) shooting team challenged the likes of the city of Jasper police, the Pickens County Sheriff, the Georgia Game and Fish Commission, and the Georgia State Patrol to “The Challenge at High Noon” this past Saturday.The challenge was a modified trap competition, pitting the very talented SAFE team against some of the best shooters in all of Pickens County.

After three hours of competition, the results were announced and The Pickens County 4-H’s SAFE team proved that age is just a number by topping the numbers posted by law enforcement.

4H SAFE member Luke Chastain won the individual round. Rounding out the competition was Charles Gillette of the Pickens Sheriffs Office and Andrew Cochran from the Jasper City Police.

The competition was held to help raise money for the SAFE team. Attendees had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for prizes from local businesses including a .22 rifle which was won by a Georgia State Patrolman.
