Recent qualifying for city elections came to an end with the exit of August.
An election will be held November 5th to decide who will fill council seats in the cities of Nelson and Talking Rock. No one qualified in Jasper so all current council members will be returning next year.
In Nelson, Larry Ray will face no opposition for the position of mayor while current council members Jackie Jarrett and Edith Portillo will return. Thad Thacker qualified as well as two additional seats on the city council are open for voting consideration. Whomever receives the most votes will fill those positions.
