Accreditation honors were presented by Superintendent Dr. Lula Perry at last Thursday night’s school board meeting. All Pickens County schools received their certifications of accreditation. The Georgia Accrediting Commission awards the certification based on a stringent list of standards that must be met and those standards vary by the type of school. The commission was created in 1904 and has been working towards educational enrichment ever since. There are four categories with the highest being Accredited With Quality, a goal met by all Pickens schools.

Perry presented the district certificate to Board Chairwoman Wendy Lowe and each school representative individually.

“We have wonderful schools and we have great people who work at our schools. This is an indication of the quality of work we see,”

Perry said with pride.
