Pickens County residents were honored last evening with a performance by Pickens High School’s marching band, the Pride of Pickens. The award-winning group provided the concert “Give Back to the Community” as a gift.
The only admission charge was a request for food donations that went to Hope House. Hope House is a non-profit organization that provides a safe home for children who’ve been taken into custody by court order and/or through the Department of Children and Family Services.
The band has had plenty of time to hone their skills prior to this event. In fact, they recently competed in Hart County where they brought home a second place title behind only West Forsyth in the 3A division. At that competition they also brought home superior ratings in percussion, color guard, majorettes, drum majors and overall band. In addition, the majorettes collected first place in Gold Division.
Last night at the high school field they showed off their talent and also gave recognition to the 17 seniors who’ve brought integral experience to the Pride of Pickens this year. Congratulations Dragons!
