Sexual assault at PHS results in arrest

FYN asked several questions of PSO (Pickens Sheriff’s Office) regarding the case which occurred on school property after hours between a 15-year-old female and an 18-year-old male. Due to the ongoing investigation, Lt. Kris Stancil was unable to be more specific regarding the events surrounding the incident or the time leading up to it. He could only verify that the students knew one another.

Stancil said,

“Any other comments could lead to compromising either the case or the victim’s identity.”

The Pickens County School system has released information regarding the alleged sexual assault that took place at Pickens High School yesterday afternoon. The statement reads:

Pickens High School has been made aware of a possible sexual assault between a male student and a female student which occurred on school property after school hours. The Pickens County School District will not tolerate actions of this type and will continue to both enforce and communicate this message to our students. The GBI and the Sheriff’s Office have been working together on this investigation and have made an arrest.
