Sergeant Heath Watson was bestowed the highest honor the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office can award during the PSO Citizens’ Academy class Tuesday. Watson received the Sheriff’s Office Lifesaving Medal for his response to an incident November 12, 2011.On that date Watson noticed Christmas lights flickering then going out on the porch of 2277 Carlan Road during the overnight hours. When he drove to the residence the porch had started to burn as a result of the faulty lighting. He alerted the residents inside and even made entry through another door to remove those in danger. In addition he had the foresight to evacuate neighboring residences.

For his diligence and insightfulness during that life-threatening incident Sheriff Donnie Craig praised him for his response and effort as well as presenting him with the medal.
