Richard Thomas Lockhart, Sr., age 79, of Bent Tree Community in Jasper, Georgia, died Thursday, August 14, 2014.
He was born July 24, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Jack and Helen (Goetz) Lockhart.
Dick served in the United States Army as a military police officer stationed in Germany. He graduated from St. John’s University in New York, and was a Vice President at National Bank of Westchester and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Dick raised his family in Lynbrook, New York, with his wife Lucy, where he coached youth baseball and basketball, was a Kiwanis Club member and was a leader at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by daughter Janet Campbell and sister Jeanne Rahner. He is survived by wife, Lucy (Ragone) Lockhart; daughter Ellen Finnegan and son-in-law Kevin, son Richard, Jr. and daughter-in-law Karen, son-in-law Larry Campbell; six loving grandchildren, Andrea and Kara Finnegan, Peter and Timothy Campbell, Megan and Thomas Lockhart; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; cousins; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Visitation was at Roper Funeral Home, 206 Holly Street, Jasper, Georgia, 2:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 17. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 19, at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church, 1908 Waleska Highway 108, Jasper, Georgia. Interment to follow at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, American Kidney Fund or American Lung Association in his memory.
