Nettes Softball Lose A Tough One To Heritage
Dragon's Corner, Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports September 19, 2014 , by RJ CaseyLast Thursday, the Nettes softball team hosted the #2 team in 4A Lady Generals of Heritage. Prior to the game, the two teams came together in the infield to release red, white, and blue balloons in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks. It was also a Pink Out in Nettes stadium to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Heritage would look to start off strong but would leave two runners stranded as we would head to the home half of the 1st. As the rain would start to fall, freshman Shae Chadwick would step into the batters box and send one soaring over the left field fence giving her team a 1-0 lead headed to the 2nd inning.
Heritage would then strike as they would take the lead scoring three runs in the top half of the 2nd to take a 3-1 lead. The Nettes would go quietly in the bottom of the 2nd leaving the score 3-1. The Lady Generals would drive in six more runs in the 3rd before the Nettes would get the third out stretching their lead to 9-1. That’s how this one would end as the Nettes were held scoreless and the ball game was called after 5 innings.
The Nettes will be in action on Tuesday, September 16th in region play at Ridgeland and at home on Thursday, September 18th against Northwest Whitfield. Both games are slated to start at 5:55 pm.
