This Saturday the ninth annual A Taste of Pickens opens its doors to hundreds of enthusiastic diners at a new time, 11:30 to 1:30. With new restaurants participating. As followers of FetchYourNews.com know, this event is fun, flavorful and usually a sell-out. And with new Italian favorite Lola, Cora’s Country Kitchen and Wild Onion Grille joining the event, attendees should be sure to buy advance tickets. According to event organizer Regina Camp, attention is running high this year, and an advance ticket in hand is the only way attendees can be sure they won’t be turned away at the door. Another tip: Get there early! That way you’ll be sure of the widest selection of entrees, side-dishes and desserts.

Here’s the deal: For one $10.00 ticket, you get to choose eight delicious samples and two drinks from any of Pickens’ finest restaurants, caterers and bakers. If there’s a die-hard Dawgs fan in your family, there’s no need to miss the Kentucky game. Take-out boxes will be available for just one buck extra. And if you love beautiful and delicious gourmet cakes, you’re in luck. Once again this year, six gourmet pastry bakers have donated their delicious creations to be auctioned off under the gavel of popular local auctioneer, Kyle Waters. And you’ll feel good knowing you’re helping fund Pickens County’s own food pantry, C.A.R.E.S.

You just have a day or two more to lock in your place at the feast with an advance ticket from any of the following locations: Bank of North Georgia, C.A.R.E.S., The Carriage House, Chamber of Commerce, Kroger, Bojangles, Amicalola EMC, Deb’s Bakery, Foothills IGA, Jasper Drugs and Gifts, Renasant Bank, or from any C.A.R.E.S. board member. On Saturday, tickets will be available at the door.

Once you step into the big hall at Appalachian Tech, logic dissolves, so take a moment right now to look over the participants and your choices: Fuego – Quesadillas; Originals to Remember – Cake; 61 Main – local Pumpkin & Sage Grits w/Sausage; Bojangles – Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Dirty Rice; Carriage House – Banana Pudding, “Chocolate Dessert Mess”; Coast-to-Coast Catering – Cake; Madeline’s; Cora’s Country Diner – Chicken & Dressing, Apple Cobbler; Deb’s Bakery – Petit Fours, Pumpkin Pound Cake; Dos Margaritas – Guacamole, Chicken Quesadilla; Kroger – Starbucks’ coffee, soft drinks; Bojangles – Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Dirty rice; Last Catch – Shrimp & Grits, Clam Chowder; Lola Kitchen and Bar – Stuffed Mushrooms, Cannoli; Mary Ann’s – Pinto Beans, Cornbread, Banana Pudding; Rocco’s – wings; Wild Onion Grille – Pulled Pork sliders; Woodbridge Inn – flaming Bananas Foster; Mary’s Bread Basket – Chicken Salad Sandwiches and Pumpkin Bars. Once again, Geraldine’s Bodacious Foods will hand out samples of their cheese straws, while the Foothills IGA generously donated plates and napkins for the event to spare C.A.R.E.S the cost of buying them.

Every penny earned goes directly to Pickens own food pantry to help fund and feed Pickens’ own hungry families. Load up the car with family and neighbors. Come dine on Saturday so the hungry can eat all year long.
