New School Cafeteria for Tate Elementary

Dragon's Corner

Hopefully, by the time the 2015-2016 school year rolls around, Tate Elementary School may have a new school cafeteria. The Tate students have been eating at what is known as the “cafenasium” while the “Marble Valley Friends” have allowed them to use their gymnasium for PE classes. Ms. Deb Longshore said,

“this project has been a group endeavor between the Pickens County High School cafeteria workers, the Tate cafeteria workers, and Marble Valley Friends.”

The high school has graciously been cooking the meals for Tate students.

The old Tate cafeteria is very small and the staff at Tate is looking forward to an updated and larger kitchen. Currently, the cafeteria does not connect to the main building of the school but after the remodel it be connected thus increasing safety and convenience for the students.

After speaking with Steve Baird, project manager for J&R Construction & Development, Inc. (center left) and Nathan Smith, Supervisor, (Center Right) FYN learned that the goal is to have the cafeteria ready by the next school year.

Teachers, cafeteria staff and students appear to be excited about having a more convenient and well built cafeteria.
