Dragon's Corner, Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports

Last Tuesday, the Dragons Den played host to a region match up between the Dragons and the visiting Generals of Heritage. Pickens had an 0-1 record in region coming into this ball game while Heritage entered 6-1 overall and 2-0 in region. That would not stop the Dragons from pulling off the “upset.”

After a back and forth opening quarter, Pickens emerged with a slim 16-14 lead heading to the 2nd quarter. Costly turnovers by the Dragons helped the Generals win the quarter 19-13, and take the halftime lead 33-29. Heritage stretched their lead out in the 3rd quarter outscoring Pickens 18-10 to take a 51-39 lead into the fourth and final quarter of play. The Dragons would get it together and come back on the Generals in the 4th as a pair of late free throws by senior Shannon Brooks would seal the comeback for Pickens as they outscored Heritage, 24-9 to take a 63-60 win.

The Dragons are now 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in region 7AAAA action
