Is the new restaurant owner, Mr. Wayne Sloop, looking to add wedding venue to the list of available options at the 1907 Restaurant? Maybe so or it could just be some wonderful Ellijay, GA hospitality.
Whether there are plans for making the 1907 Restaurant & Bar a wedding venue is unknown. But the 1907 Restaurant, located on River Street in beautiful downtown Ellijay, GA, turned into one on Saturday. What’s more that we know is that Mr. Wayne Sloop, owner of the 1907, made a decision this past Saturday that will forever be a happy memory for a couple that happened into his restaurant.

Here are a few of Mr. Sloop’s own words that tell us the story of how these visitors ending up becoming man and wife at the local restaurant,

The story has gotten out but here’s my version… Yesterday (Saturday March 14th), I noticed an unhappy group of people at the bar. I approached the obvious bride and groom and asked them how they were doing. She said their wedding venue had been rained out and didn’t know what they were going to do… We hadn’t planned on seating our main dining room, so I told her if they gave us an hour to set it up, they could get married there. I grabbed the staff and told them the dining room had to be a wedding chapel in 45 minutes… Stefanie Lovell and my wife, Carol, grabbed decorations from Christmas and did up the aisle chairs, Steve, our “muscleman” dishwasher and I moved all the tables out of the way and we set up 5 rows of chairs… I Pandora’ed some wedding music and she was down the aisle… During the ceremony, I ran across the street to Terry Ellis and told him what was going on and asked if I got them out onto our balcony and have her wave her bouquet, could the band wish them congratulations in public and get a cheer… What happened next was magic… The band, Slickfoot, made the announcement and the entire crowd on River Street cheered… Slickfoot immediately broke into Journey’s “Faithfully” and Megan and Jeff danced their first dance. (I did not expect that). I had the presence of mind to pull out my iPhone and video it with a huge lump in my throat… Their wedding group dined in our lounge and as they left, they gave me a big hug. I told them that today will be a “piece of cake” for what comes next… Good Luck, our new friends…!
