The Pickens High School North Georgia Soccer Classic was won by the Dragons for the second straight year. The Dragonettes finished second, to Lafayette. Both the Dragonettes and Dragons secured their places with wins over region rival, Gilmer High School. Lafayette was the third participant, with the Lady Ramblers taking first place and the Ramblers taking second.The Dragonettes fell 3-0 to Lafayette while the Dragons tied the Ramblers 1-1, with Erick Gomez scoring for Pickens. The Dragonettes scored the first goal of the year in the 1-0 win over Gilmer, thanks to India Gleason’s first half goal.

After Gilmer’s 2-2 tie with Lafayette, the Dragons and Bobcats squared off for the first place finish. Despite the Bobcats drawing first blood, the Dragons tied the game, with Mitchell Bell’s goal with 1:25 left in the first half to head into half time tied, 1-1.

The second half saw the Dragons secure the win, and first place, with a goal from Brad Rutledge with 17 minutes left, and another Bell goal, two minutes later. Pickens held on for the 3-1 victory for the second Classic win in as many years.
