Daily Prayer: 05/20

Psalm 18:6. “In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.”Sometimes we are in distress, Lord, and we turn to you for help. Our distress is often of our own making. We take measures into our hands and try to bring about a solution when we don’t have your perspective. We know that you can see the whole picture and we can only see from our limited view.

Family members cause distress when they do not understand us or when they get themselves in trouble. As they are close to our hearts we want them to have lives that are free and fulfilled.

Distress is faced in our jobs when we have too much to do or do not meet expectations, or when we have lost a position for which we have worked all of our lives. It is hard to live in our present economy without distress when we see world conditions that affect our daily lives so much.

But in all of these situations we call on you for help and know that you are mindful of our need and will answer from your reservoir of grace.

In the Name of Jesus we call.

Amen.
