Matthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Thank you, dear Lord, for being with us when we face opposition from the very depths of hell itself. Your people can stand triumphantly against insults and false accusations because of the strength you give us.

We pray for Christians in the work force who are made fun of by their fellow employees, for those in the military who are passed over because of their convictions, for the lone believer in a family that is hostile to the gospel, and for those in government who try to bring righteousness to our national life.

May all who suffer because they are believers find a way to rejoice in the midst of their pain. You taught us that all who will live godly in a perverse generation will suffer persecution. Help us to keep our eyes on you and not on those who would defile us for the Holy Spirit who is in us is greater than all of the forces against us. Great is our victory!

Amen.
