Daily Prayer: 06/15

Religion

Matthew 6:5-6. “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Lord God of the Universe, Jesus taught us to direct our prayers to you and not to men. We find great blessings in his example of going aside to be alone with you. Help us to find those times when we can be solitary in prayer.

We cannot see you, but we sense your presence. We cannot touch you, but we can feel your touch. We cannot hear you with our ears, but we do hear you in our spirit.

Remind us that you are more willing to bless than we are to be blessed. We do not have to persuade you to answer our prayers. We just have to pray, “Your will be done!”

Amen.
