“For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” Philippians 3:18-21.

O Lord, you have made us citizens of two worlds and suspended us between time and eternity. You have made our lives here blessed and abundant. You will make our lives hereafter more fulfilled and complete than we can ever imagine now. The prospect of our earthly bodies taking on a resurrection transformation is exciting to anticipate.

But we now live among those who are enemies of the cross. They do not comprehend what quality of life is possible in Christ and neither do they want it. Our hearts are broken for them for the temporary joys of this life is all they will ever have.

Bless this person who now prays and thinks on these thoughts to rejoice in the blessed present and the glorious future you offer us in Christ.

Amen.
