“What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.” James 4:1-2.
O God, whose mercy is everlasting, we sometimes get our lives so twisted that we cannot unravel them by ourselves. We get involved in verbal battles and defend our positions even when we know we are wrong. Sometimes this evolves into hatred which is akin to murder.
We have been blessed with plenty by the world’s standards. We hardly know what it is to be in want and yet we desire so much more. But in the matters of the soul there is so much we could have if we would only desire it and ask you for the depth and richness of life. We do not have it because we do not desire it and do not ask for it.
Today, we do ask for the ability to be more like Christ.
