Pickens County will hold a Veteran's Day parade on Tuesday November 11th beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade will begin on Main Street and end at the Lee Newton Park. The Veteran's Day program will then begin at 10:45 a.m. Patriotic music provided by Pride of Pickens Band.
This Halloween, FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) is encouraging food allergy families to start a new tradition: painting a pumpkin teal and placing it on your porch as a sign to other families managing food allergies that you have non-food treats available at your home. Your teal pumpkin is also a way to raise awareness in your neighborhood about food allergies!

On September 20th 2014, the Pickens Animal Rescue, Inc. held its annual fundraiser event. The Fur Ball was held Saturday at Venue2Remember owned by Angela Nolte and entertainment was provided by Jesse Giles Entertainment. PAR is a non-profit animal rescue group and its goal is to place the dogs and cats into exceptional homes!
Good Samaritan Hoedown was held September 20, 2014. Proceeds from the event benefit Good Samaritan Health & Wellness Center. The event was held at the Lowe Barn and attendees enjoyed entertainment by Banks & Shane. Kyle Waters was the auctioneer for the event. Prevent Child Abuse Pickens presents Long Table on Main – Creating Magic Again. On October 11th Main Street in Jasper will, once again, be transformed into an exquisite dinner party to raise funds for Prevent Child Abuse Pickens. An elaborately decorated, candelabra lit table will stretch right down the middle of Main Street. This year’s theme, a Venetian Masquerade, sold out in 10 days.
