The All-Region football team for Region 7-AAAA was released on Monday.

Among the Pickens players selected on the first team were Tanner Brumby at quarterback (Brumby was also selected as the special teams player of the year for his excellent punting skills) and Shannon Brooks at running back.

Two new head coaching positions have opened up in the last three days, as Western Kentucky head coach Willie Taggart announced on Friday that he was leaving the Hilltoppers for the South Florida head coaching job and Tommy Tuberville announced on Saturday that he was leaving Texas Tech for Cincinnati.

The Florida International Golden Panthers made a very surprising decision on Wednesday, making the announcement that head coach Mario Cristobal had been relieved of his duties.

Cristobal, who played at the University of Miami in the 1980’s and took over as Golden Panthers head coach after the 2006 season following a three year run as an assistant at his alma mater, posted a 27-47 record in his six years with Florida International, including a 3-9 mark this season.
