Milner Defends Region Title Five Others To Join Him For Sectionals At Gilmer

This past weekend, PHS Wrestling hosted the 7-AAAA Area Wrestling Tournament. This event was full of exciting action that did not disappoint.

 

Several PHS wrestlers advanced to sectionals with their finishes at the Area Tournament. Wrestlers who qualified include: Kelton Gilbert (Alternate), Chase Millsap (Alternate), Jeffery Lillard, Joe Massey, Joseph Ferguson (3rd place), & Koby Milner (1st place, defended region title).

 

These wrestlers will now advance and get ready for sectionals. The sectionals will be held in familiar territory as Gilmer High School will be the host. The Sectionals will take place this Friday and Saturday.

 

Please come out and support these young men this weekend.

Bobcats Burnt: Pickens Pounds Region Rival 11-0

The Pickens High School Dragons baseball team burnt the Bobcats of Gilmer with an 11-0 road victory. The win saw the game called after the fourth inning and starting pitcher, Travis Huffman, throw the full four innings of shutout baseball with seven strike outs, including the last two outs of the night. The Pickens High School North Georgia Soccer Classic was won by the Dragons for the second straight year. The Dragonettes finished second, to Lafayette. Both the Dragonettes and Dragons secured their places with wins over region rival, Gilmer High School. Lafayette was the third participant, with the Lady Ramblers taking first place and the Ramblers taking second. (more…)

Nettes Lose Tough Game To Bitter Rival Lady Cats

Friday, the Dragonettes made the trip up 515 to take on the Lady Cats of Gilmer High School in a big 7AAAA region matchup. Pickens, came into the ball game third in the region standings while Gilmer came in tied with Northwest Whitfield at the top of the standings. (more…)

Pickens Routes Ridgeland: Pounces on Panthers 66-18.

The Pickens High School wrestling team faced off in Area competition with the Gilmer High School Bobcats and Ridgeland High School Panthers. While the defending state Duals and Traditional AAAA champion Bobcats bested the Dragons, 69-3, Pickens picked up a victory, pummeling and pouncing on the Panthers 66-18. (more…)

Nettes Lose Final Tournament Game Finish Third

Last Tuesday, The Nettes varsity basketball team traveled to Gilmer High School to take on the host team, the Gilmer Lady Cats, in the final game of the Thanksgiving tournament. With a win, the Nettes would get a piece of the tournament title. A win for the Lady Cats, would give them the title outright.

Dragons Beat Gilmer To Win Tournament Title

Last Tuesday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled back to Gilmer High School to take on the host team, the Bobcats, in the final game of the Thanksgiving tournament. Bragging rights were at stake as well as a tournament title. If the Dragons came out victorious, they would be tournament champs. If Gilmer defeated the Dragons, there would be a three way tie for first.

Dragons Stay Undefeated In Tournament Play Have Title In Sight

Yesterday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled north on 515 for day two of the Thanksgiving tournament hosted at Gilmer High School. Pickens once again would be playing in the 2nd game of the day and were the designated away team as Copper Basin (TN) served as the home team. The Dragons looked to continue momentum built after the opening game win against Fannin Saturday afternoon.

Nettes Get Tournament Win In Big Fashion

Yesterday, the Nettes varsity basketball team once again traveled up 515 to take part in day two of the Thanksgiving tournament being held at Gilmer High School. The Nettes were once again the opening game of the day as they were the designated away team as they took on the Lady Cougars of Copper Basin (TN). Pickens looked to bounce back after a tough buzzer beating defeat against Fannin on Saturday afternoon and bounce back did they ever.

Dragons Open Up Tournament With Big Win

Yesterday, the Dragons varsity basketball team traveled up 515 to play in the first day of the Thanksgiving tournament at Gilmer High School taking on the Rebels of Fannin County High School. The Dragons, coming off of a double overtime loss to Dawson, looked to build momentum for the rest of the season in this opening tournament game. Dragon Nation would certainly be pleased with the way their Dragons played yesterday.

Yesterday, the Pickens Nettes varsity basketball team traveled to Ellijay to take on the Fannin County Lady Rebels in the annual Thanksgiving tournament hosted this year at Gilmer High School. The Nettes were in the opening game of the round robin tournament acting as the home team and looked to start off with a win over the Lady Rebels. The fans that traveled from Fannin and Pickens were treated to what turned out to be a thriller.

Pickens Swept at Gilmer

The Pickens High School basketball teams traveled to Gilmer County on Wednesday to play in a makeup game that had been canceled the week before. In attendance were the varsity teams along with the JV Boys team. Every game was close for the duration of the event, but the PHS teams all fell to the Bobcats on the night. (more…)
