My Opinion…..
Opinion December 22, 2015 , by Staff Writer RegionalMy Opinion by Ralph C. Barker
“Ex Nihilo” in Latin means making something out of nothing. This is what God did in the beginning. God spoke, and it was. Simple to understand, right?
What is fascinating to me is that liberals believe in Ex Nihilo. They think they can speak things into existence. They seem to truly believe that if they say something, it is.
Let’s see, our President practices Ex Nihilo regularly. He has declared our borders safe. He states that no ISIS jihadists are coming over our borders.
He spoke into existence the containment of Isis. He commanded that there was no corruption, not a smidgen, in the IRS. And, he declared the economy is doing well.
I have personally heard a liberal defend another liberal’s failure by saying, “Didn’t you hear what he said?” That was supposed to close the case. He said it, so it is true. That’s it. No discussion. Shut up!
Reality does not seem to disturb them. Facts are irrelevant. History has no value. So, here we are. That’s all I have to say about that.
Merry Christmas.
One More Name For Your Christmas List
Religion December 3, 2012 , by Ralph BarkerSome of my fondest, warmest memories are those from the Christmases of my youth. In those days, the 1950s, Christmas was more about Jesus than Santa. In downtown Atlanta department store windows were decked out with various Christmas displays including the Nativity. Even the county court houses had a Nativity.
What’s In A Name?
Religion November 26, 2012 , by Ralph BarkerWords are powerful. When we assign words to a person we give them meaning, identity, and even authority. Think about when Mr. Smith becomes Senator Smith or President Smith. These labels do a lot to our concept of Mr. Smith.
Chrislam Alert: Is the Koran Coming To Your Church?
Religion March 26, 2012 , by Ralph BarkerThere is a new religion on the block. It’s called Chrislam. Chrislam, or the “True Message of God Mission,” is the synthesis (or combining) of Christianity and Islam. This is a radical, heretical, new form of ecumenicalism. Currently Chrislam is a growing trend in Africa, but it is already making inroads into America. It may be coming to your church. (more…)
America Is Great Because She Is Good
Religion March 19, 2012 , by Ralph BarkerWho ever said this, and it wasn’t Alexis DeToqueville as alleged, was correct:
America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great. America is no longer good and its former greatness is fading fast.

Our Obsession With Utopia
Religion December 5, 2011 , by Ralph BarkerAs the Bible says, “That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9 NASB). The truth certainly applies to the idea of a Utopian society. Utopia is nothing new. The idea began as soon as man was expelled from the garden. (more…)
The Death Penalty: Is It The Loving Thing To Do? Part II
Religion November 21, 2011 , by Ralph BarkerThe Old Testament is not lacking examples and specific instructions as to when and how the death penalty should be applied. In Genesis, chapter 9, God handed over the responsibility for application of the death penalty to human government. Last week I made a brief case for the death penalty from the Old Testament.
The Death Penalty: Is It The Loving Thing To Do? Part 1
Religion November 14, 2011 , by Ralph BarkerIt’s ironic that people are almost willing to kill over the death penalty issue. When it is discussed emotions tend to flare, and logic flies out the window.
The Gifts of the Spirit ARE FOR YOU!
Religion August 29, 2011 , by Ralph BarkerOne dividing point among Christians is the issue of the gifts of the Spirit. Are they for us today? Or, did God withdraw them at some point in time? (more…)
