Dragons Drug by Bobcats

The Pickens High School Dragons’ baseball team was lambasted by the Bobcats of Gilmer High School 15-3. Starting pitcher Dylan Childers lasted four innings, giving up five runs on four hits, with two runs earned. The Dragons recorded six hits and five errors.The game began with neither team scoring in the first inning. Each team scored a run in the second inning. The game got away from the Dragons in the third when the Bobcats scored three runs while holding the home team to one, for a 4-2 lead by the visitors.

The fourth and fifth innings saw the home team held scoreless, while the visitors scored one and two runs respectively.

The sixth inning proved to be the deciding inning. The Bobcats increased the visitors’ lead from 7-2 to 15-2, with an eight run explosion in the top of the inning. The Dragons were able to muster the final run of the game, to end the scoring and provide the game’s final score of 15-3.

The Pickens’ runs were scored by Eric Justice, who touched home twice, and Matthew Cook.
