Eugenia Ruth Gibson : Obituary

Mrs. Eugenia Ruth Gibson, age 98, of Jasper, Georgia died Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, following a period of declining health.

Born July 3, 1913 in Clayton County, Georgia where she was a native and having lived the majority of her life in Riverdale, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Scott Archer Mann and Elizabeth Odell Gibson Mann. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Earl Gibson, a son, Tom Gibson, and sisters, Flora Shierling, Ruby King and Edna Nash. Mrs. Gibson had worked as a quality control manager with Cluett Peabody & Company, manufacturer of Arrow Shirts and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Riverdale, Georgia, as a child and most of her adult life.

Survivors include, DAUGHTER & SON-IN-LAW, Brenda and Richard Wynn, of Jasper, Ga.; SONS & DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW, Jerry and Pat Gibson, of Dalton, Ga.; Steve and Cindy Gibson, of Clarksville, Ga.; Gayle Gibson, of West Palm, Fla.; NINE GRANDCHILDREN , NUMEROUS GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN and GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN also survive.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Riverdale, Georgia, with the remains placed in state at the church at 12:00 Noon, Dr. Jeff Lowe will officiate, with the interment to follow in Riverdale Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
