The Pickens Dragons gave their fans the gift of excellent basketball on Friday night, as both the junior varsity and varsity teams were able to top the Fannin Rebels.

While the matchup featuring the junior varsity squads was a highly-contested game, the varisty game between the two schools proved to be anything but that.
The Dragons started the game on a 6-0 run and outscored the Rebels 13-1 in the first quarter of action, setting the pace for a blowout. Pickens did not let up in the second quarter, and a beautiful no-look pass by Spencer Jones to fellow senior Sam Crawford led to two more points and the realization that it was just meant to be for Pickens.
Pickens maintained its stranglehold on the momentum of the game in the second half, allowing younger players precious to have necessary playing time and for the fans to celebrate another well-earned victory. The Dragons went on to win the game by a final score of 54-31.
Sam Crawford led the team in scoring with twenty points. Austin Murphy ended up with a team-high six rebounds.
The junior varsity’s next game comes on January 6th at Murray, while the varsity Dragons will take part in the Pickens Holiday Classic, which starts on December 27th and runs through the 29th.
