Mr. Hugh Tatum, age 94, of Tate, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Wildwood Healthcare in Talking Rock, Georgia, following a period of declining health.
Born May 10, 1917 in Jasper, Georgia, he was the son of the late, John Homer Tatum and Eula Pearl Tatum. He was also preceded in death his wife, Mrs. Mary Tatum. Mr. Tatum worked for St. Regis Paper Company as a salesman. Mr. Tatum was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper and also a member of the Pickens Star Masonic Lodge # 220 and Past Master of Tate Masonic Lodge #1945.
Hugh is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Harold Teague, and sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sandy Tatum and Tommy and Juanita Tatum, all of Pickens County; grandchildren, Josh and Hilary Tatum of Jasper, GA, Jessie and Robert Ford of Macon, GA, Rachel and Aaron Finch of Madison, AL, Casey and Ryan Shostak of LaGrange, GA, and Jacob Tatum of Jasper, GA; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Agatha Tatum; and brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Belle Tatum, of Swainsboro, Georgia.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Jasper, with remains placed in state at the church at 10:00 a.m., the Dr. Jimmy Lewis and Rev. Von Hinton will officiate with the interment to follow in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012.
