Thanks to several businesses and community leaders in North Georgia, the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce 6th Annual Leadership Snowball Golf Tournament at Arrowhead Country Club in Jasper held on Monday, March 19th, was a success, raising over $10,000! This is the most money ever raised for this tournament!
The money raised from this tournament goes to fund Seal of Responsibility Scholarships earned by Pickens High School Students as well as the Youth Leadership Pickens Program. This year the funds are also used to help bring back the Leadership Pickens program.
The ever-popular golf ball drop capped off the afternoon event as onlookers lined the practice green for their chance at turning two dollars into two-hundred. The $50.00 prize winner was Dave Jacobs, the $100.00 prize winner was Mila Lane and $200 prize winner was Al Lawson. The first place low gross winning team for the afternoon was Team Five Star which included Teddy Duncan, Greg Waters, Ron Hunter, and Matt Cagle. The second place low gross winning team was the State Farm team which included, Parish Lowrie, Mike Cowart, Gary Lowrie, and Marty Callahan. The first place low net winners were team Trouts Beverages which included, Jack Short, Russell Smith, Tim Stephens, and Ron Thompson. State Farm Parish Lowrie, CPCU and Marty Callahan State Farm also added events to our tournament this year. State Farm Parish Lowrie, CPCU did a 50/50 drawing that raised $550 for our Leadership programs, and the winner of the drawing Mike Cowart walked away with $550. Marty Callahan State Farm sponsored a closest to the hole event, the winner Rob Jones won a ton of golf balls. Thank you to these members for hosting these events.
