FYN REPORTS: Rick Jasperse Seeking Re-Election

I am announcing that I will seek re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives District 11.I currently represent District 12, which includes parts of Bartow and Gordon counties and all of Pickens County. The newly configured House District 11 covers parts of Gordon and Murray counties and all of Pickens. Following the 2010 census, the district was redrawn to account for the population growth in the region and in the State.

It has been a tremendous honor and privilege for me to represent the people of House District 12. I have enjoying getting to know folks from Lily Pond to Marble Hill and all over the district. The miles I have put the on my red truck show I have worked hard to meet and listen to and be accessible to as many people as possible. While the district lines may have changed, I am excited about the opportunity to meet new constituents, and to continue to provide a conservative, conscientious voice at the State Capitol for everyone in the district.

During the past two legislative sessions, we have addressed a number of important measures dealing with illegal immigration, education, tax reform, criminal and juvenile justice reform, drug testing, and metal theft. Last month we passed House Bill 386 that moves taxes on energy use for manufacturers, reduces the marriage penalty, and replaces the sales tax and ad valorem taxes on automobiles with a one-time title tax. It has been rewarding to be an active part of creating legislation that continues to make Georgia a great place to live and to make Georgia a place job creators want to be.

It is sad to lose those constituents we have made friends with in Bartow and in parts of Gordon counties during the last three years due to redistricting, but I am looking forward to getting in my red truck and getting to know the folks who live in Murray County.
