Mrs. Vennie Harris Martin, age 96, of Jasper, Georgia died Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Heritage Health Care in Jasper, following a period of declining health.
Born May 12, 1916 in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Skid Harris and Lily Jane Cordele Harris. She was also preceded in death by her Husband, Homer Martin; Son, J.S. Martin; Sister, Azalee Van Sickle, Brother, Berlin Harris and Grandson, Steve (Corky) Martin. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and was a member for over 80 years at Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include, SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Mack and Cheryl Martin, of Jasper, Ga.; GRANCHILDREN & SPOUSES, Jean and James Hancock, of Jasper, Ga.; Joey and Sharmon Martin, of Jasper, Ga.; Brittany and Greg Payne, of Jasper, Ga.; Kristin Martin, of Jasper, Ga.; 6 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Antioch Baptist Church, Rev. Gene Childers and Rev. Buck Parker will officiate, with the interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home after 12:00 Noon on Tuesday and until the Funeral Hour on Wednesday.
