Loren Maxwell, who has worked with sports ratings for over twenty-five years, has released his predictions on the 2012 high school football season for high schools across the state of Georgia.
Mr. Maxwell was nice enough to send us a detailed look at how his computer rankings see the season playing out for the Pickens Dragons. It is important to note that the computer doesn’t take into account any changes a team may have (new head coach, transfers, etc.), but instead relies heavily on the team’s history. Included in his game-by-game look is the date of the game, the opponent, the predicted spread of the game, and the Dragons’ probability of winning.
The 2-7 record would place Pickens fourth in the region, one slot above River Ridge.
While these projections aren’t exactly promising for Pickens, the reliance on history for them to be calculated tells me that no one should be worried; after all, new head coach Chris Parker was brought in to re-write history for the Dragons and to lead the team to an amount of success it has previously been unable to reach.
