The Pickens Dragonettes gave it their all on the volleyball court in their first match of the season on Tuesday, as they defeated the Lumpkin Lady Indians in two games by a final score of 25-22 and 25-20.
Following a match victory by the JV Nettes with final game scores of 25-23, 10-25, and 25-21, the varsity squad came up and battled back and forth with Lumpkin in both games.
Once the first game ended with the Nettes prevailing 25-22, the Lady Indians looked prepared to force a third game, as they jumped out to a commanding 18-8 lead in the second game of the match. However, the Dragonettes woke up and came roaring back to life, going on a 17-2 run to win the game and consequently win the match.
The Dragonettes will be looking to build off of their first win of the season on Thursday, as they take on the Fannin Lady Rebels at home. The games are set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
