Dragonettes Drop Lady Rebels in Three Games

The Pickens Dragonettes’ volleyball team took care of business for the second straight match, as they defeated the Fannin Lady Rebels, by winning two of three sets. The final scores of the sets were: 21-25 (Fannin win); 26-24 (PHS win); and 25-19 (PHS win).Following a clean sweep by the JV Nettes with game scores of 25-11 and 25-22, the Dragonettes hit the court looking to finish the day with an unblemished record. This possibility looked dim after the first game of the evening, as the Dragonettes dropped the game by the final score of 21-25.

However, the team was able to repeat its performance in the season opener against Lumpkin, as they rallied from a 1-0 game deficit and proceeded to win the next two games to seal a match win.

The second set of the three game series saw the home team tie 1-1. The game was back and fourth throughout, with the Dragonettes scoring a two point 26-24 victory in overtime. Pickens was down by as many six points before coming back.

The Dragonettes won the game with a six point series clincher. Kaleigh Watters, kill followed by Kelah Hendon’s ace secured the victory for PHS.

The Dragonettes—currently 2-0 on the season—will play again on Thursday, August 23rd, when they face off with West Hall and Chestatee at West Hall. Games are set to start at 5 p.m.
