RaceTrac Sets Up Temporary Shop, Waits for New Store

The RaceTrac Gas Station and Convenience Store on Highway 515 in Jasper fully reopened last week. In June, the store caught fire due to an alleged cooler malfunction. The store partially opened on June 14th, but has now fully reopened. According to an email this week from RaceTrac Associate Manager of External Communication Amanda Rodriguez, RaceTrac has temporarily utilized the empty building beside the gas station for its convenience store.

“When visitors drive up, they should turn right for gas and left for the store,”

Rodriguez instructed in her email,

“There is also a kiosk at the pump area where guests can conveniently pay for their gas without crossing the street, and also has a limited selection of tobacco and non-alcoholic bottled beverage products. “

The temporary store offers coffee, fountain drinks, bottled beverages, snacks, tobacco and a limited selection of sandwiches. When the store reopened a week after the fire in June, it utilized only a small undamaged portion of the building, offering a limited selection of products. The new temporary space, however, is a larger area than the reopened portion of the former building, offering a larger variety of products.

The company has plans to rebuild a new RaceTrac store where the previous store was located. The new store, however, will be a new 6,000 square foot model, also known as a RT6k store. According to the store model fact sheet, the new store will offer 4,000 retail and food service options. The store will also offer indoor and outdoor seating, free Wi-Fi, 10 swirl yogurt flavors with over 40 toppings, 12 fresh brewed teas, and 24 frozen beverage flavors.

Rodriguez, however, did not state when construction will begin or when it will open. The original structure, though, has been demolished, suggesting construction will begin soon.
