Pickens Dragons senior offensive lineman Ryan Chastain announced today that he has committed to play football at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. Chastain, who was named to the Atlanta Journal-Consitution’s Class AAAA All-State Watch List prior to the 2012 season and was selected as a member of the North roster for the inaugural North vs. Central All-Star Game following the season’s conclusion, was a commanding force for the Dragons’ offensive line throughout the year and played a pivotal role on a Pickens squad that posted their first non-losing season since 2006.
Ryan seemed very excited about the potential of Faulkner and his future with the Eagles, saying “They have a great staff, and Montgomery is a great place to go to school.”
The Faulkner Eagles are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and play in the Mid-South Conference. The Eagles are coming off a 6-5 record in the program’s sixth year of existence.
The Eagles are led by head coach Brent Barker, who completed his first season as Eagles head football coach in 2011 after spending the previous five years as the school’s athletic director.
