Mr. Herman B. Evans, age 87 of Fairmount, formerly of the Ludville Community, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at his residence. A Veteran of World War II served in the European Theater, awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle. Mr. Evans retired from Lockheed Martin Aircraft in Marietta with 30 plus years of employment.
He is survived by Nephews: Barry Evans, Fairmount, Charles Evans, Cartersville, Nieces: Jaronda Evans & Sheila Boling, both Fairmount & Carolyn Oglesby, Atlanta & Special Friends of the Family: Deborah Ofitt & Sheila Alvis. Herman was preceded in death by his Parents: Will & Josie Evans, Sister: Fay McGowan, Brothers: Ferman, Arthur & Cleburn & Special Friend: Louise Sisson.
A Graveside Service will be 2 PM Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chandler Boling officiating, Local Chapter 47 DAV was in charge of Military Rites. Pallbearers were Charles, Berry & Adam Evans, Chad Headrick, Damon & Chandler Boling. The Family did accept flowers but prefer donations to Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund.
