PHS Hires Casey Bates as New Head Baseball Coach

Pickens High School has a new coach on the baseball diamond, as Alcovy High head coach Casey Bates has been hired as the Dragons new head coach.Bates arrives at PHS after a successful five year run as Tigers head coach, which included a 21-8 run in 2013 that saw the team finish with the fifth best record in Class AAAAAA. This success at Alcovy, which is located in Covington, Georgia, began almost immediately upon his hiring, as a 3-win Tigers team in 2008 responded with a 22-10 record and a trip to the second round of the state playoffs.

Bates takes over as Dragons head coach upon the resignation of Jason Nunn, who held the position since 2002 and called it quits following PHS’s 12-13 posting in the 2013 season.
