The Pickens Board of Tax Assessors met Thursday. Among the topics discussed was the need for an expert on telecommunications property to be hired by the board. The cellphone towers around the county serve as receptors for various equipment the carriers attach to it. The county doesn’t have a person who is familiar enough with the value of telecommunications property to properly give valuation to it. After further research, the matter will be addressed again in the future. The assessors will meet again this Thursday, August 22 at 8:30 a.m. at the Pickens County Administrative offices, 1266 Church Street.
