Rescue Team Recovers Body of Missing Man

An early morning rescue mission gave closure to a late night missing persons case that plagued the Twin Mountain Lakes subdivision.The body of Anthony Chastain, 28, was recovered by Forsyth County Rescue around 8:30 a.m. this morning in the lake. There is no reason to suspect foul play according to Pickens County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arrived on-scene at a private residence located at 145 Twin Mountain Lake Circle at 2:30 a.m. this morning after Chastain was reported missing. He was last seen earlier in the evening on the dock located at the home where a gathering was taking place. Once the dock area was searched by persons at the home, a 9-1-1 call was made to Pickens County Sheriff’s Department.

The deputies conducted a ground search of the area without success. The Forsyth Rescue team was called in and Chastain’s body was located in the lake.

On September 3, 2013 at approximately 02:26 deputies from the Pickens
Sheriff’s office responded to 145 Twin Mountain Lake Circle regarding an
unknown trouble call. Upon their arrival they spoke to witnesses who
inculcated Mr. Anthony Chastain (age 27 of Jasper) was reported missing and
believed to be in the lake.

At about 10:22 A.M. Forsyth County Water Rescue advised they had found a
body. After retrieving the body, the body was placed in Pickens County EMS
Med 3 until the coroner arrived on the scene. Upon arrival of the coroner,
the scene was turned over to him and Criminal Investigations Division (CID).
